what size should my little squares be to use the paper effeciently?
i need to cut up little squares of a4 paper to resemble mosaics . What size should each square be for me to use a full A4 sheet of paper?
The dimensions of A4 paper are 210 × 297 mm
210 = 3 * 7 * 10
297 = 3 * 3 * 3 * 11
The only size in mm which will use the paper 100% is 3mm x 3mm
which is very small indeed and would be hard to cut precisely.
You won't lose much by using a larger size:
I give the width of the strips along each side (1 each way).
4 x 4 mm: 2 mm on the long side, 1 mm on the short side
5 x 5 mm: 0 mm on the long side, 2 mm on the short side
6 x 6 mm: 0 long, 3 short
7 x 7 mm: 0 long, 3 short
8 x 8 mm: 2 long, 1 short
9 x 9 mm: 3 long, 0 short
1 x 1 cm: 0 long, 7 short
